Myself writing blog's note during my trip to Marrakech

My Story

I WAS DREAMING ABOUT HAVING a REAL TRAVEL BLOG SINCE a LONG TIME.

What is your story? I’m curious…

This is mine.

I start from the travel blog perspective. The main topics are:

  • Budget travels;
  • London by a Londoner;
  • Expat life.

I have opened a few travel blogs, but I’ve never been too consistent enough to have it over a month. Now, I’m reviewing this page since I changed the SEO plugin and all the scores are close to zero… Ah, funny right?! Like if I wouldn’t have anything else to do… But happen, this is part of the game. What are you struggling at the moment with?

By the way, I’m happy you are here. It’s nice to know each other.

No Foundation, Please is a funny name for a travel blog. I agree. However, there is a meaningful reason behind. I don’t personally love too much makeup. Probably because I had very bad acne and my skin was very oily. It was impossible to have a perfect foundation. After a few hours, my forehead was shining and my nose mat. So uncomfortable. Now probably, I will have more vegan/vegetarian options that will work perfectly with my skin, but I don’t wear foundation anymore. It’s quicker and I save a bit of money for my travels.

How long does it take you to get your makeup/hair ready?

Probably you are wondering why I’m speaking about this… Well, because with my travel blog I’m aiming to encourage you to do not waste time with something that it won’t last as makeup or the perfect outfit. The world is wide & wild! Therefore, book a flight and discover the unknown.

Now, that I have told you a lot about the name of my travel blog, I will tell you a bit more about me.

I’m Sara and I’m 31 years old! Yep, I’m not in my twenties anymore. Blogging is for everyone! 😉

I’m originally from Ravenna, (Italy). I wrote a very nice travel guide about it. I invite you to read it here and if you can, visit Ravenna because it’s unique!

After studying tourism at high school, I decided to go to Uni and study law. Unfortunately, it wasn’t my cup of tea. After the second academic year, I left.

I had to find a job and in Ravenna, there is a lot of tourism during summer (seasonal job), so I went to work in a nice hotel in Milano Marittima (very famous summer location in Italy) as a receptionist. Then summer ended and I had to find a job to cover the winter season. I went close to the Austrians’s border, in Trentino Alto Adige. This story has been happening for a couple of years.

A seasonal job is funny. I felt like being on vacation rather than work because I was discovering new places (especially in winter), trying new regional food and meeting new people.

This is actually, how I met my ex-bf. He was from Veneto, (I’m from Emilia Romagna) and we were both working in San Martino di Castrozza during that winter.

My ex bf was the link to my expat life…

He was a successful young chef and I was “just” a receptionist. After a couple of years together, I thought to move to London, because I had the needs to improve my English as I was scared he was going to receive such a great job offer that I couldn’t follow him. So the first time we weren’t successful. We went to London and after 1 week we went back.

A year later in December 2012 we tried again.

It’s now 8 years that I live in London. My ex-bf went back to Italy in April or May 2013. I was alone, in a country that I did not belong to. I will tell you more about my experience as a solo in London, in the next post.

Now, I’m fulfilled and happy with my career. I work in hospitality as Reception Manager in a Michelin Star Restaurant in Central London.

I love travelling and meeting new culture, trying new food. I felt like I needed to open my travel blog to share with you my experience. On the internet, you can find so many expensive holidays that will make you think that you will never travel. That is not true. Travelling can be cheap as well. All you have to do is look at the right website.

Now, it’s your turn… What is your story?

Do you have a blog? I can’t wait to discover it!

Enjoy the read

    How exciting! In theory I’d make such a drastic change like that too but it sounds terrifying! I will deff have to check Ravenna out as well.
